I'm currently in the middle of a training program with Stampin' Up! As part of that training they asked us what our SU story is and it got me thinking back to the beginning.....so bear with me as I get a little nostalgic on you today :)
Back in 2004, while browsing through a Creating Keepsakes magazine, an advertisement on the back cover caught my eye. It was an ad for *the* cutest stamp and I knew that I *needed* that stamp! But here's the catch, I was a scrapbooker NOT a rubber stamper. In fact I had never once even so much as looked at a stamp before-nope I was a sticker girl (man how things change *wink*). But I LOVED this stamp! I went online and looked up Stampin' Up! and wrote down a demo name or two. Well as luck would have it a few days later I was over a friend's house and she was telling me about her friend that sells stamps and when she saw the catalog she thought of me. She handed me my first Stampin' Up! catalog. I took the book home and drooled (almost literally) over it for DAYS!!!! But I didn't find that cute little stamp that I *needed* So I emailed the demo listed on the back of the catalog and guess what!! I found out that the cute little stamp was part of a promotion that Stampin' Up! calls Sell-a-Bration and with a $50 purchase it could be mine!!!!! Well I'm sure you can guess where this is going.......I placed that first order, which I must admit was a *touch* more than $50, and then I placed another and yet another....
When I moved into my new home I decided to host a workshop. I figured it would be a great way for my friends to see my new house AND for me to finally meet this fun demo that I had been placing orders through :) The workshop was SO much fun! After all was said and done, that fabulous demo (Sue) and her upline (Kate- who had come to assist since it was Sue's first workshop) chatted with me about signing up as a demo. I had already made purchases that would meet my quarterly minimums (yup-told you the orders were a touch more than that $50 *wink*) and I knew I just wanted MORE! We talked about the different types of demos and they left me with a stack of papers to browse through. I had pretty much made up my mind immediately but I wanted to chat it over with my husband and think it over a little more.
That was a little over 5 years ago and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed EVERY moment. I have made some of *the* best friends through stamping! I've been to two SU conventions and quite a few local regional events....each one a blast! I have had the pleasure of stamping with the best group of ladies in my hostess club each and every month! I have stamped with The Stamping Queens (even though they have since moved on from SU) and am proud to call these women great friends! And I have enjoyed a discount on some of my favorite stamping products around!
So there's my walk down memory lane.......thanks for taking the time to "listen" to it :) So what was that cute stamp that I just had to have you ask???? Well it's none other than Fabulous Four
I'll be back tomorrow with my SCS color challenge card. Until then, have a great day!!! Thanks for stopping by :)
