Just a Little Slice

June 15- Last Day of Preschool

*sigh* it's a bittersweet day.  Today was Elizabeth's last day of preschool and I can't believe that she has gotten so big already!  Where did the time go??  I can vividly remember her first day at Maple Stream Road Preschool and today here we are at her last.  I'm not going to lie, I shed (quite) a few tears today.  I am really going to miss her teachers from this year.  She has really bonded with them and loves them so much!  I'll just have to make sure she makes lots of visits back there in the future ;)  I snapped this picture as we were walking out this afternoon.  It's just *so* strange to see her classroom so empty 

June 14- EXHAUSTED!!!

We are down a car this week since mine is in the shop getting the transmission fixed.  We dropped Chris off at work this morning so I could have the car during the day.  On our way to pick Chris back up this afternoon, Elizabeth was chatting my ear off.  She was just talk, talk, talking away telling me about everything and anything that popped into her head.  We were having a great conversation (honestly about what I don't even remember she just talks so much ;)) then all of a sudden----silence.  It was like someone pushed the mute button she stopped talking that abruptly.  I turned around and this is what I found.  I guess it finally happened....she wore herself out talking ;) 

June 13- yum!

Tonight we met up with Marco and Thais for some delish dinner at NanKing.  The restaurant just happens to be across the street from Friendlys so we popped on over to visit Angie at work.  It was the perfect (sweet) ending to a nice dinner.  Alex surely enjoyed himself :)  He started out with the spoon but soon just gave up and started scooping his sherbet out with his hands.   He was a sticky *sticky* mess by the time he was done. But he enjoyed every single drop of that ice cream!

June 12- dress rehearsal day!

Today is the big dance recital dress rehearsal!  We got Elizabeth all dolled up and glittered.  Then came the *best* part of the outfit, the big long (fake) ponytail ;)  All dancers are required to wear their hair in a low ponytail for the recital.  Well with her short haircut, Elizabeth's just doesn't really make it into a ponytail...it's kind of more like a little nub at the base of her neck. So we went out and got her a hairpiece (which saves me SO much frustration!).  It is LONG though!!!  Like all the way down her back but she won't let me cut it.  I think she's imagining herself as Rapunzel with this long mane.......she cracks me up!  

June 11- It was a great season!

Today was Elizabeth's last day of soccer for the season.  She had such a blast playing that we are doing it again come fall :)  The girls played their last game in the rain.  We lost, pretty badly, but Grey Storm still had a great time.  Then we were off for a team end of the year pizza party, the best part of the day of course!  Each girl was presented with their soccer medal at the party.  Elizabeth  was SUPER excited to get that medal.  We hung it proudly in her room when we got home :)  

June 10- the little things

It's the sweet small little moments like this that just make your heart melt.  We had a surprise doctor visit for Elizabeth today (ear infection :( first one ever).  While we were waiting for the Dr to come into the exam room both kids sat on the little step stool and Elizabeth "read" Alex a story.  It was *so* sweet and they were sitting *so* nicely I just sat back and watched them (because let's be honest, moments like this don't last long).  They may drive me crazy and get into lots of trouble and just wear me out, but I wouldn't trade a single minute of it for anything!!  LOVE these two crazy monkeys!!

June 9- yummy

Alex has taken to throwing food lately. He grabs fistfuls of food and flings it anywhere and everywhere saying "YUMMY!!!!!" the whole time, most likely because he starts throwing food and the dogs come out from nowhere to clean it up.  He laughs and giggles and just enjoys the heck out of it and the pups?? Well they've both probably put on a few pounds as a result. Oy!

June 8- Dance Party!!!!

Welcome to a "normal" day in the Socha house!!!  I was loading the dishwasher listening to some music on my iTunes.  First in comes the boy into the kitchen dancing along to the tunes.  Then comes the girl (wearing her size 3 winter coat because she is cold, of course!) and she's grooving right along.  Giggles are filling the room.  I run out of the room for 30 seconds to grab a dish towel and come back to find this.  Oh yeah they're both still dancing away but on my kitchen table :/  Gotta find a stage everywhere you know ;)

June 7- Passers!!!

Because, really, can you ever *really* have too many passers??????  Alex keeps a stash of pacifiers around the house and any time he sees one he has the compulsive need to switch out the old for the new.  It's an all day long process that results in him using several different passers (the Alex word for pacifier ;)) which can usually be found on the kitchen table....or under his bed ;)

June 6- Little Froggie Friend

Every spring we get a little frog that hangs out near our front door.  It's pretty usual to see the frog hanging out at night since the house lights bring LOTS of bugs to the area but today I noticed our little frog friend hanging out during the day.  He was all snuggled in right under the light fixture, barely noticeable.  Even Eagle Eye Elizabeth had a tough time noticing him.  Guess it was the perfect spot for him to spend the day until dinner arrives at night :)
