The cupcakes were yummy!!!! I didn't really care for the icing, but I am not an icing kind of gal....but the cupcakes themselves were really yummy. They were lemony but not pucker your lips in your face lemon. And they were the prettiest shade of pink :) I brought them up to my brother's house as a thank you for cooking us yummy hot dogs and hamburgers that night.
We had a really nice holiday. My DH was off for the day and we spent most of it outside gardening....or should I really say weeding!!! The weeds had literally taken over my poor flower bed out front and needed to be taken care of. Well these puppies had some serious roots and had to be dug out and even then it was tough. I've even got a nice blister on my hand to show for it. My arm is very sore today, but my flower bed looks all pretty again. Now I just need to pick up some new mulch and a few more flowers and it will really be set :)
I wanted to share the cards that I have been getting from my secret sister. I signed up for the current round of Secret Sisterhood over at SCS. I have always wanted to join but never really had the free time to do it. Well this time everything worked out and I am loving it!!!! My Big Sister is awesome!!!!
She makes beautiful cards and she is just pleasure to talk to. I am so excited b/c she will also be attending Convention this year and by then her identity will be revealed so I will get a chance to actually meet her in Salt Lake City!!!!! How cool is that?!?!?!?!? I love the cards that she has sent me so far......aren't they just gorgeous!!!!!
I hope that you have a great day today!!! See you tomorrow :)
Well today I thought I'd do a quick post since 1. I didn't get to post yesterday and 2. I will most likely not be posting on Monday b/c DH will be home. I am actually in the middle of baking cupcakes so I figured I'd hop on to Typepad while they are cooling off and waiting to be frosted. Yes, you read that right I am making cupcakes.......like from scratch!!!!! Now this may not seem like a big deal to anyone but to those that know me....this is a HUGE deal!!!!! See I don't cook....or bake for that matter. My kitchen and I are not really the closest of friends. We have one of those love hate relationships......I love to eat yummy food ( ok who doesn't) but I HATE to actually have to cook it!!!! I am fortunate enough though to have a DH who enjoys cooking...and is really good at it too. But see somewhere lately I have caught a bug....a baking bug. I have been obsessed with baking cupcakes.....not just box cupcakes either....I want real *I made them all by myself* cupcakes :) So right now as we speak ( ok as I type *wink*) I have a batch of pink lemondade cupcakes cooling on my kitchen counter. They smell delish and they look pretty good too.....the real test will be later once we actually try them, but they need some yummy pink frosting first.
Now I know you don't come here to hear me ramble on about making cupcakes.....so here is my "boy" swap card from my kids swap. I used one of the doodle factory stamps, his name is Scoober. Isn't he cute?!?!??!?! I love the blank stare on his face. I colored him in using my prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I made the background using my CB Spots and Dots embossing folder- I think it's perfect for kids cards. I also got to use my big huge eyelets for this cards.....I love the look of them I think they work really well for masculine cards, little boys included *wink*.
Materials used: Happy Birthday (SU); Scoober (DoodleFactory); Kraft, Old Olive, Mustard, Night of Navy, Brocade Blue CS (SU); Stampers SelectWhite (Papertrey); Black Noir, Burnt Umber (palette); Spots and Dots embossing folder (ProvoCraft); prismacolors and gamsol; large pewter eyelets (SU); key tag punch (SU); ribbon
I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!!!! We don't have any big plans but that is always nice too. The weather here is supposed to be gorgeous so I'm sure a trip (or two) to the park can be expected!! We got our Wii Fit the other day too so I'm sure that there will be some Wii fun in our future as well this weekend......and as always Rock Band is a BIG thing at our house so perhaps "the band" will be getting together this weekend to "rock out" *wink* Whatever is in store for us.....I'm sure we will ahve fun!! Hope you do too!!!! Thanks for stopping by today!!!!! :)
This is one of the swaps I made for the kids swap on SCS. This is my girl one (obviously) and I LOVE the way it came out!!!! This little princess is from Lizzie Anne Designs-isn't she just adorable!??!?!?!?!?! I colored her in using my Copics and Spica glitter pens-all of the darker pink is the glitter pen, it really adds a lot of shimmer and shine. I also popped her up on some dimensionals so she really stands out. I also finally used my Floral Fantasy embossing folder, but I put it on the card so the image is debossed. Then I added a few dew drops as a small finishing touch.
Materials used: Once Upon a Time (Lizzie Anne Designs); Almost Amethyst, Old Olive, Shimmery White CS (SU); rose ribbon (SU); Copics; Spica glitter pen; dew drops; Floral Fantasy embossing folder (ProvoCraft)
Nothing major going on here today. I have to do a major cleaning in my stamp room and I am just putting it off. I have been so busy with projects that the room is really a disaster!!!! I'm talking you can barely walk in it disaster.......I *need* to clean it up before I start working on my Convention swaps. I can't even find my stamp table it's so bad!!! UGH!! I did pick up some of my alterable items for my swaps today....so I'm hoping that will be the inspiration I need to get the room clean...just so I can mess it up again working on the swaps *wink*. Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a great one!! I am headed outside to "play bubbles" as the 2 year old has instructed me!!! Guess we better get out there before it starts to rain (as it looks like it's going to do any second now). See you tomorrow!!!
Well, I did promise to be back today with a card.....I just never said what time I'd be back *wink*. I have a really quick and cute card to show today using my Outlines Rubber Stamps. I LOVE the way they look but to do them justice you really need to layer them....and adding a little bling always helps too.
I used the berry sorbet cardstock from Papertrey as my card base. I love the way it goes with the spring moss (used on the ribbon). I stamped my image 3 times-once on berry sorbet, once on pretty in pink, and then a final time on shimmer white. Then I cut each layer out and used dimensionals to pop each separate layer up. Then I just cut a pretty in pink mat for the base and viola....instant cuteness :) I wanted to make this really shine so first I outlined the entire image in my clear Spica pen but it didn't give enough shine so I "colored" in the daisies with my trusty stickles. LOVE the way they sparkle and shimmer now. Since the main image is so cute I wanted to keep the card pretty simple but just a plain card was well a little *too* simple. So I used my swiss dots embossing folder and gave the card a little texture. Then I tied a cute ribbon around it to complete. This is the spring moss twill ribbon, also from Papertrey and I have to tell you.....I LOVE this ribbon!!! It is so silky soft and smooth......I could just pet it all day :) I gave this card to my mom for Mother's Day....I'm pretty sure she liked it. How could she not right?????
Materials used: Flower Bunch Square lg (Outlines rubber stamps); Pretty in Pink, Shimmery White CS (SU); Berry Sorbet CS (Papertrey); Swiss Dots CB folder (ProvoCraft); Copics; Clear Spica pen; Spring Moss ribbon (Papertrey); stickles
This is the first time in a while that I am posting to my blog using my Mac...they changed some things here at Typepad and I LOVE it!!! They made it so much easier to post (especially for the computer illiterate such as myself). I will really need to explore and see if they changed anything else while I was away.
So I am all signed up for Stampin' Up!'s convention in July/Aug and I can't wait!!!!! Track 4 here I come!!!! I am going with my friend and upline, Kate (Hi!!!). I know we are going to have a great time. In all the convention excitement I have signed up for a few swaps over on SCS. I am going to be making some card fronts for swapping at convention but I wanted to get some really special things....so I signed up for a few 3D swaps, I think they are going to be spectacular!!!! True it will mean a heavy suitcase headed to Utah but it also means that I will be coming home with some awesome new projects to try out. I also means that I better start working on them......July 30 will be here before I know it *wink*
I also just recently participated in another swap with my toddler mom friends over at SCS. We made kid cards, so I made a boy and a girl card. I will be sharing them with you tomorrow. I am also finally going to get to meet my friend's new little girl tomorrow so I will be able to post the rest of her gift that I made (in addition to the baby frame from last month). She reads my blog, my friend not the baby...yet, so I didn't want to post it and ruin the surprise. I love the way it came out.......I'm hoping that she will too.
Well, it's getting late and Elizabeth and I have our Mom and Me class tomorrow so I better get some sleep......thanks for stopping by today!!! Have a happy day :)
did you miss me?? I'm so sorry that I have been such a bad blogger but that silly thing called life seems to have gotten in the way *wink* After I finished the announcements, I had my niece's First Communion and then we went to Disney for a little over a week :) I have been running non-stop since we got home (a week ago today...wow how times really flies!!) and I just haven't had a chance to update here. I have a few pics from Disney to share today but sadly no cards or projects. I *have* been stamping....boy have I been stamping, I just haven't gotten a chance to upload them from the camera to the computer yet.....I'm going to do that later today. So I should have some cute stuff to share with you tomorrow. Promise :)
Minnie Mouse, aka Elizabeth heading to the Princess and Pirate Party (and yes I know that technically Minnie is NOT a princess but work with it ok??)
Modeling her pretty new Mickey Mouse hair clip that Grandma bought her
Just a fun pic of Elizabeth. This picture really captures her personality :)
The Flower and Garden Festival was going on while we were in Disney. I always love to go and look at all of the gorgeous displays. I got a nice shot of this butterfly in the butterfly garden.
And this is my all time favorite flower picture from the week. I love the colors of this plant.....I have no idea what it is but it is pretty. It was part of the outdoor living display. Can you tell I was having fun playing with my marco lens?????
We had a really great time and can't wait to go back :) We're headed to DisneyLand in Sept and then back to DisneyWorld in December for my friend's wedding and then again in January for the Disney Marathon :) Yes, we LOVE Disney *wink*
I'll be back with some stamping projects tomorrow :) Until then, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!!
