Well, I finally finished redoing the thank you cards and making the announcements. I have to admit they took a bit longer than I had originally thought they would. My life, aside from "little lady" time of course, has been consumed with pink and brown *wink* But they are finally finished and I have to say that I am very pleased with the way they turned out :) My friend didn't want "baby" cards and I think that I accomplished that.....these don't look baby at all. She had sent me a picture of a Carter's bedding set and I used that to pick the stamp set....and even DH agrees I did pretty good matching them up!!! And yes, the stamp set is technically a wedding set.....but hey it works right??? *wink* I hope that she loves them!!!!!!
I used a kraft base for the thank you card because well she will be writing in these :) I used a sketch from the SCS sketch challenges, this one is SC160. The sketches are great for when you have an idea of what you want to do but can't seem to figure out what you want to do, kwim??? The flowers were stamped on full sheets of shimmery white and then cut into thirds as I put them onto the card so that they would all match up. I wanted to add a little color but not over do it, so I just colored in the shading lines of the smaller flowers and the leaves. Then I added a little dot of silver stickles to the center of the colored flowers. I love the way this came out.......subtle but really pretty. To get the line of piercing across the bottom, I just ran the card through my sewing machine without thread. It gave a nice straight line and it was a lot faster than individually poking all those holes. A word of warning though.......although I LOVE the look of the cute little scallop edge, think before you start. You see 9 scallops across one card is ADORABLE......translate that to 62 cards and well it's no longer adorable....my finger was numb for 2 days.....ouch. Sure the problem could have been solved if I was able to cut a straight line with my scallop scissors, but why make anything easy *wink*
For the announcement, I used another sketch from SCS. I kind of modified it a little to meet my needs better though, this is SC139-sort of *wink*. I printed the baby's info for the inside so the color of the card base wasn't an issue. My friend is also going to put a picture of the new little princess inside this card too. I wanted to make sure the card coordinate so I used the same stamp set. I stamped the flower on the shimmery white again but this time I colored in all of the flowers. The small flower once again has the touch of silver stickles but I used a silver brad for the center of the large flower. It's hard to see in the picture but I also outlined the stems with my clear glitter pen. The kraft paper a patterned polka dot paper (also tough to see in the pic). It adds just a touch of dimension to the card. This time I got smart and used my scallop blade on my paper cutter rather than the corner rounder punch, my poor fingers just couldn't take any more *wink* Then just the slightest touch of ribbon was the finishing touch :)

So I'm hoping to get in some stamping time later today. Elizabeth has been a grump the last few days..I think either she is finally getting her 2 year molars or she has caught daddy's cold....either way it has meant that she really isn't getting too much sleep lately. I'm hoping that maybe when she goes to bed tonight I can get into my stamp room and have some fun. I have quite a few cards to make this week and I want to start getting ready for Mother's day too. I am always such a last minute gal, I'm really trying to change that.......but we'll see. Thanks for stopping by today! I'm hoping now that the cards are done I can get back to posting regularly again. Have a great day!!!!
