A birthday wish

 Just popping in with a super simple quick and easy card for you.  This card uses the newest release from Chicken Girl Designs (available exclusively at i {heart} papers)-Birthday Wishes.  This is such a fun set to play with!  This is the cake image (well duh Merry!!!)...I stamped it a few times so that each level of cake is popped up.  I cut out, and airbrushed, a frame for my cake using my nestabilities labels four.  The background paper is from the My Minds Eye Colorful Christmas collection-have I happened to mention how much I {heart} this paper???  The colors are so pretty and just like here they don't all need to be used for Christmas only :)  Then I just ran a length of velvet ric rac along the edge of the card and that's it.  It took a tad bit longer than 5 minutes but not too much longer.

I'm actually going to post and run today though...it's been a crazy few days here.  The Little Lady is having some sleep issues which as a typical three year old are then turning into behavior issues...and well Alex?  Yeah he didn't get the memo that he's supposed to sleep-ever *wink*  So to say that we've been a little crazy is probably an understatement....but I did manage to stamp a few cards today to regain my sanity. Hopefully I'll get some good pictures of them to share with you.....until then hope you have a great day!!!  Thanks for stopping by :)

Five Minute Birthday Wishes

 Well what a better time of year for a five minute Friday card than the holidays!!  Things get so crazy and busy this time of year but you still want to be able to give people homemade cards....well that's when you need the 5 minute card the most!!!  This card uses the new Chicken Girl Designs set Birthday Wishes.  It went together super quick and it is super cute!  Now if you wanted to take a little more time this cute little bunny would love to be covered in some fun flock but I was on a time limit so she's a hairless bunny *wink*  The paper is from the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses collection and it is a perfect match for the now retired SU Pink Pirouette.  One of the things I love about unmounted stamps is that you can manipulate the images....like the sentiment here.  I curved it a bit on my block so that it hugged the edge of the oval. Fun, right?  The balloon is covered in some crystal effects after getting a nice solid layer of clear sparkle from my Spica Glitter pen.

A sweet little angel

A few weeks ago my friend Sarah lost her son very unexpectedly.  Henry was a sweet little three year old boy who's smile would brighten anyone's face.  He was just a few months younger than Elizabeth and Sarah and I "met" on SCS through an expectant moms thread.  We have chatted almost daily for the last almost 4 years and have shared many stories of our crazy kids!! The loss of Henry is huge (read his story here). He was much too young to become an angel.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of Sarah, her husband Darrin and their younger son Jack. 

In the wake of Henry's passing the stamping community has really pulled together to honor this sweet little boy.  Pink Cat Studio released a digital stamp in honor of Henry (read all about it HERE). Sweet and Sassy stamps has announced that they are releasing a stamp set on December 1 where proceeds will go towards the memorial for Henry. And then there is this one from Paper Makeup Stamps, which also has the proceeds going towards Henry's memorial.  When I saw this stamp it made me think of Henry.  He lived in WI and I can just imagine him all bundled up making snow angels.

So this card is for Henry, one very loved and very blessed little boy.  You will be greatly missed!!!!  Love you Cyber Auntie Merry!

An Elephant never forgets

This week's sketch challenge was so much fun (I actually made two cards but you will have to wait for the other one *wink*).  I think this sketch is really a great way to showcase some patterned paper...and well do I have patterned paper!!!  This card uses the cute little elephant from the new Chicken Girls Designs stamp set Birthday Wishes-LOVE this set, it is so cute!!! The patterned paper is from the Cosmo Cricket paper pad Early Bird.  Super simple card with lots of "fun appeal" thanks to the sketch and this fabulous paper.

Materials used: birthday wishes (chicken girl designs); kraft, chocolate chip cs (SU); early bird (cosmo cricket); black noir (palette); copics; stickles; candy dots (pebbles)

Things here have been crazy but good.  Alex had spent a few days in the hospital after we got home from Disney at the end of October and I am still trying desperately to catch up!  He is fine thankfully, it appears that he just picked up a virus but because of his age the doctors weren't taking any risks....the poor little guy underwent SO many tests :(  But everything came back normal and we have been home (and fever free) for almost 3 weeks so that makes me happy.  Now I'm on a mission to get Alexander's baby announcements out this weekend......and then I have to begin working on my Christmas cards!  Yikes!!!  I'm going to be awfully busy in the upcoming weeks.  I have a few more cards to share with you in the meantime though so please stop by again when you get a chance!  Have a wonderful day!!!

Birthday Wishes

I am happy to announce the newest Chicken Girl Designs stamp set Birthday Wishes.  Adorable isn't it?!?!?!  And how appropriate that I get to introduce this set to you today since today just happens to be my birthday :)  Who knows maybe for my birthday today I'll even get a little uninterrupted stamp time to play with this adorable stamp set *wink*

Tomorrow's the day!!!

Tomorrow is the release day for the Chicken Girls Designs newest stamp release over at i {heart} papers!  Just wait until you see this adorable set!!!!  If you've been checking out all the sneak peaks then you already know just how cute it is.  Well I *finally* have my card to share with you today.  I missed out on the sunshine the other day and sadly it never really came back out until today.....and wouldn't you know I missed it today too!!!  ugh!  So I have a not so great picture that I took using my Ott light....at least the colors are true.

This card uses the sketch from SCS sketch challenge 253.  I love this sketch!!!  It's fun and whimsical just like my cute little pup :)  I used some paper from the Cosmo Cricket pad Early Bird.  The colors in this collection are soooooo nice!!! I used my airbrush system to create the land and sky behind my pup but if you don't have it this look can easily be recreated using some ink and sponges.  I lifted my pup up with a bunch of balloons, also in the set, and then covered them with some crystal effects to make them nice and shiny.  And it's probably tough to see in the picture but there is the tiniest little bow on the pups tail "holding" the balloons on.  I actually used a super thin slice of cardstock since all of my ribbon was just too thick to make such a tiny bow.

Good and bad

So I've got good news and I've got some bad news.  The good news is that next Monday 11/16 i {heart} papers is releasing a brand new stamp set from Chicken Girl Designs.  The set, called Birthday Wishes, is *totally* adorable and as always available for the awesome price of just $10!  

Now for the bad news......I have a totally cute card that I made as a sneak peek to show today...and well I somehow let the sunlight get away from me :(  I've taken a few pictures using my light box and a few lights and I am just not liking the way the colors are coming out......so the sad news is you will have to wait until tomorrow to see my super cute card.  Sorry!  But fear not, I'm sure that if you head over to the blogs of the other gals on the Chicken Girl team you will find some equally cute cards previewing the set.

For Henry

This week has been a very sad one as former DT member (and my dear friend) Sarah Anderson’s 3 year old son Henry passed away. Little Henry was unable to overcome a virus that made him ill last week. 

Lorie Ames has organized a way to donate for a memorial for Henry. Henry loved his local zoo and visited it almost every day in the summer. As a memorial, trees will be planted there in his honor. Melissa at Pink Cat Studio has created a digital stamp to help raise funds for a tree for Henry. All proceeds from the sale of the digi stamp, minus Paypal costs, will go towards the tree.

You can send in any amount using the form. The funds will be pooled.
